Abdulaziz Asiri

ENERCOMP Technical Committee Member

Abdulaziz Asiri holds MSc Degree in Polymer Engineering from the University of Akron in Ohio on 2003 where his research thesis was focused on utilizing carbon fiber in sandwiched carbon composite panels for enhancing its impact resistance. Mr. Asiri has over 28 years of industrial experience in Saudi Aramco (SA) where over 24 years Mr. Asiri specialized on nonmetallic piping application, design, qualification as well as construction. Mr. Asiri introduced new nonmetallic technologies to Saudi Aramco such as fire-retardant composite pipes in aboveground firewater piping, the first composite pipe in aboveground hydrocarbon service, large diameter HDPE pipe replacing water concrete flume, and composite lined carbon steel production tubing in downhole application.

Mr. Asiri was Chairman of Nonmetallic Standards Committee position from 2018 – 2023. During that period, Mr. Asiri led an extensive optimization campaign of nonmetallic standards in Saudi Aramco. One major achievement under his leadership, a set of new standards were developed on additive manufacturing, rotolining of CS pipe, FRP poles, RTP pipe, pressured HDPE pipes. In addition to his standards and technology contribution Mr. Asiri conducted failure analyses of nonmetallic products in particular composite pipes, elastomer lining, subea flexible pipes, thermoplastic piping. Mr. Asiri is an active member of several international standardization committees IOGP, API and ISO. Mr. Asiri authored and coauthored over 20 technical papers in journals and conferences.
